The Watershed Engineering Services Unit implements and supports a number of core mandates of Conservation Halton:

• protection of life and property and natural hazard/resource management
• administration of fill
• construction and alteration to watercourses regulations
• land use planning
• policy and guideline development
• flood warning program
• operation and maintenance of flood control infrastructure such as dams and flood control channel systems
